Artificial Intelligence is trending for various reasons right now. While English teachers and professors are concerned about plagiarism and cheating issues, small business owners should be looking to implement some of the benefits of AI as well. As with any emerging new product, ChatGPT is open to these philosophical dilemmas and there’s a ton of gray area. Murky waters aside, you should know what it can do for you. When tasked with this assignment, I thought, “Let’s take this for a spin and see what it can do!” I downloaded the Chrome extension and went to work.
Finding the Right Prompt
Now, there’s a learning curve with this tool. I started very general, asking ChatGPT how it could generally help small business owners, edited my initial question, and added some parameters, before I landed on the following prompt:

Most blogs should be at minimum 500 words, with 1000-2000 words being that “sweet spot” to capitalize on your relevant keywords and ensure your blog pops up on the results page of relevant search engines, so I added that word range in there as well.

It doesn’t quite reach that 1000-2000 word parameter and additional attempts had it going into more detail with each benefit or simply paraphrased them in other words, but I sat in awe for a minute. (It’s also pretty cool to see it write the words before your eyes in real-time.)
While this needs some work and needs the voice of the writer or company, it hits all the main ideas. It’s also quite readable, which will help your website rank higher as well. Using AI to generate ideas and help you in the beginning stages of planning should be something every small business owner does. It will save you a wealth of time and can alleviate writer’s block for sure. In addition, it will save hours of data analysis and research.

Another main advantage, coupled with the saving time factor, is now the possibility of increasing your SEO website content. Where you may have only had time for one blog post a month or reworking your website was on the “One Day” list of tasks, you can knock out three or four or finally get to re-evaluating your site and adding more engaging and relevant SEO content.
