Grow With Google and Veteran Small Business

Here at Stand And Stretch, we use Google daily and depend on their services to communicate with clients, staff, and develop our business and our clients’ interests. As a Google Partner, we try to relay valuable information to the public about what exciting ideas Google is cooking up out there in California, and how it will affect the rest of the world.

The importance of Google to small businesses is unmatched. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing new information from the big guys directly and some of the new services they will be launching in the future, starting with their up and coming program, Grow with Google.

Recently, Google announced the Grow with Google initiative. Through this program, Google is offering free training, tools, and events to assist in a cooperative learning environment. Additionally, a specialized veteran program was designed to help military veterans and their spouses transition back to civilian life with ease and tools to reintegrate successfully into the job force.

More than 250,000 service members transition out of the service each year and Google has stepped up to help. By easily typing “jobs for veterans” into the Google search engine bar, a service member will be prompted to enter their Military Occupational Specialty code, and just like that Google brings together a list of jobs that the service member could apply to for employment based off of their experience.

Through Google is where most individuals begin their job search, so Google has made the process even easier for veterans to connect to the careers that fit their skill set and knowledge. Not only is this program designed to help veterans and their families, but Google is also helping other job search engines provide additional resources for veterans seeking civilian employment. Career site companies such as Getting Hired, Career Builder, and Mid-America Careers have followed Google’s lead and veterans can simply enter their Military Occupational Specialty code and search careers within their experience realm.

Veteran Small Business Search Engine Growth

Not only is searching for a career easier but instantly veteran businesses can be identified on Google. Over 9% of all businesses in the U.S. are owned by veterans, that is roughly 2.52 million businesses. Now, to help showcase those owners, Google offers a certified badge stating that the business is veteran led, veteran owned, or veteran founded to appear on their page in Google maps and search.

Below is an informative video from Google narrated by Google employee and former staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, Sean. In hopes of helping United States veterans and current services members, Google wants to aid in discovering all the opportunities that wait for them after service.
